Overview: Browser support for onwOnline owned and managed websites

The world keeps turning, browsers don’t.

Advances in browser and website development don’t stop there, they’re part of it – in fact, they keep the world spinning.

But there are software products today that can’t handle these new techniques, and part of progress is dropping what’s outdated in order to keep moving forward.

This is why we periodically discontinue support on our part for some browsers.

What does that mean?

If support for a software solution is discontinued, this does not mean that this software solution becomes unusable. However, when developing our own products, we no longer make sure that this supports the software solutions in part or in full.

What exactly does this pertain to?

Mainly, this affects the content of our offerings. Since our and the websites we maintain are offered in cooperation with homepage hosts, their support policies apply first and foremost. But the homepage content (the inner website content) is primarily under our responsibility as far as the technical implementation is concerned.

How will this affect the web pages?

Optically, you won’t see much difference. The websites will remain as they are. In the future, however, we won’t be making sure that new features on our websites and those we maintain are still supported by certain browsers.

he biggest visible changes will occur when a website gets a new design. If that design uses techniques that the old browser no longer supports, then it will probably look very ugly.

What should I do now?

  • As a consumer:
Almost nothing. You are merely a user of the homepage and should only ensure that you can still enjoy our offers with the software solution you use. Or in other words: the browser you use should not be in the following list of not (anymore) supported browsers.
  • As the owner of a website maintained by us:
You should do the same as the consumer. Otherwise, we take care of everything for you. We will display a small banner that will alert users to the change. It will not interfere.

Not (anymore) supported browsers

The following is an overview of browsers that are not supported (anymore). You should check if your browser is included in the list, and update it if necessary, or get a new one. Because onwOnline is relatively generous with the support of old software, many websites are stricter.
